Brussels was more than a nice surprise for us.
I don’t know what expectations were, but still it was not the biggest highlight of the journey. However, it performed the supporting role magnificently!

A walk in town
We are big beer lovers. That’s why we were so nicely surprised by the diversity of kinds, tastes and ways to present the beer. It all took place at a small street in Brussels. The cold weather and the persistent rain couldn’t ruin our pleasure of trying alcoholic drinks in front of the gas heater.

For “home” we got from the store those with the most colorful labels…
Tasty food and fluffy figure go hand in hand here. It is simple – waffles with tons of Belgium chocolate or fresh strawberries with cream. The map we had suffered the most from all of those tasty delights. It ended up being really dirty and had difficulties getting us through the seafood street.

But Brussels has a lot more to offer than just food and drinks. They need to be balanced with a walk to the Manneken Pis (Pissing Boy) or, even better, getting lost in the narrow streets of the city. Then you can only orientate by the street musicians. They are not afraid from the bad whether.

The Atomium
The Atomium and the European Institutions’ Buildings were happy to receive us as their visitors.
While we were walking between and through the atom on stairs and escalators, we decided to visit the Mini Europe Park, too.

The panoramic view was breathtaking.

The musical tunnel, too.

This entire construction was made for a fair and is actually an enlarged model of iron crystal. Thankfully, they decided to preserve it and they keep maintaining it. The feeling of being inside of an atomic construction is inspiring.

Mini Europe Park
And just like that, while walking around the huge representation of the atom of the iron crystal, we saw the Mini Europe Park.
There was no way we would miss visiting it. It was really nice representation of Europe. There was even a small Rila Monastery as a famous Bulgarian landmark.

European Parliament
Inspired by the small buildings, we decided to visit the place that some people consider the center of Europe.

Everything was great, but now we need to travel to our next destination – Tenerife. It is, after all, the highlight of our birthday trip.
