Our favorite hotels in Bulgaria, where we stayed in 2021

We decided to put together those hotels and accommodations from our stays in Bulgaria in 2021, which we liked the most. In the first section there are spa hotels, and in the second – hotels in nature, in the mountains, by the water, with amazing views. We hope you get inspiration for your next trip around the country.

103 Degrees Hotel and Spa

After hearing a lot about the only 4-star hotel in our favorite Sapareva Banya, we had to go to check it out. We managed to catch a free room for a Sunday and thanks to that we were able to enjoy the spa center without many people in it.

The water really springs at a temperature of 103 degrees and then it gets diluted. The outdoor jacuzzi quickly became our favorite place, but we did not miss the sauna, the steam bath, the relaxation area. The hotel restaurant has become our other favorite place with its wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, and responsive staff. See the hotel review we did.

Valentina Castle

We had a gift card for a stay in one of the villas of Valentina Castle – a complex in a town known to all spa lovers – Ognyanovo. So we couldn’t wait to see what our villa called Flintstone hides in the castle-like complex.

We were greeted by a small yard overlooking the outdoor pool, a huge round bedroom, a relaxation area (it turned out to be suitable for board games, too), a fireplace, and a hot tub. We felt like Fred and Wilma on a luxury vacation. From the spa, we liked the jacuzzi with a view of the valley and the mountains and the scalp massage.

Spa Hotel Calista

We decided to end a dynamic journey by heading to Stara Zagora Mineral Baths for spa relaxation. In late spring, everything was as green as it gets, so the walks in the area were especially pleasant. The garden of the hotel impressed us a lot, we always sat outside to eat. It was also quite tasty.

In the spa, we went through the pool-steam bath-pool-sauna several times to try all kinds of saunas, the tepidarium, and the laconium. Finally, we were ready for a massage under the experienced hands of professionals from Bali.

Regnum Bansko Ski Hotel & SPA

We appeared once again in Bansko for a Vita Rama health program, which was held at the Regnum Hotel. The apartments were well equipped and we lacked nothing, the song of the raging Glazne River was soothing. In the spa, we managed to relax well, spending the most time in the jacuzzis.

In the village of Banya, a shuttle ride away (provided by the hotel), there is also Regnum Banya Thermal, where you can try which of the spacious pools has the most suitable temperature for you (or alternate them with the jacuzzis), you can sunbathe or try the sauna and steam bath.

Spa Hotel Belchin Garden

Offering outdoors and indoors mineral pools, sauna, steam bath, and roman bath, Spa Hotel Belchin Garden is the perfect spa getaway only an hour (or less) away from Sofia. The hotel restaurant is lovely and the views of the mountains are our favorite, and we go there for a gulp of fresh air, literally and figuratively.

Stylish loft studio with a great view of Ardino

Following the meanders of the Arda River and fluttering through the mountains, we reached the town of Ardino, which has come out of another time and another world. After the long hike to the Devil’s Bridge, we wanted to relax well.

We have specially chosen a date for the stylish loft studio to be available. And it was worth it – we arrived in a spacious apartment very close to the city center with nice hosts. The furniture was stylish, we cooked in the kitchen and ate at the big table, then lay down on the comfortable sofa and even watched a few series on Netflix. And from the terrace, the opposite hills were shining green and the town was smiling.

Apostolite Hotel

Not far from Sandanski and yet in the mountains, Apostolite Hotel surprised us with the stylish rooms, the murmur and the view of the Sandanska Bistritsa river, the tranquility, and the good cuisine. In general, the combination of nice mountain hikes nearby and the moving water turns out to be a prerequisite for the best rest and recharging.

We can’t wait to go there in another season to see how nature has changed. And hopefully, the hospitality of the staff remains unchanged. Here is our review of Apostolite Hotel.

Aparthotel Seasons

And while we are on the water topic – let’s go to a dam. We chose the Kardzhali dam and the Glavatartsi area because of the beautiful sunsets over the hills, the reflections in the calm waters of the dam, and the atmosphere that makes you dream. We had no idea that our apartment would be themed, and although it was furnished like “Winter”, we felt wonderful and warm.

The views from the terrace made us seriously think about whether we needed to leave the room. On the barrel table outside, we drank a glass of wine, staring dreamily at the lights across the dam. Our breakfast was a short walk to the restaurant Glavatarski Han, where we could see our apartment and the green shores of the dam.

Guest House Raiski Kаt

A very beautiful, green, and full of flowers guest house in the village of Mezek gave a great start to one of our travels. We were greeted by a kind woman who made sure everything was wonderful (and made amazing mekitsi for breakfast). In the yard and by the pool, you can sit or lie for hours. The house lives up to its name (“paradise corner”).

There is an indoor tavern with a kitchen where you can prepare your meal, there is also an outdoor mehana. Although there was a company of other guests, we did not interfere – there was room for everyone. We also really liked the fact that we stopped at the Mezek wine cellar in the village – we felt one more time the hospitable attitude that this area offers in abundance.

Guest house Ongal

In the Devetashko plateau, very close to the Krushuna waterfalls, lies the village of Karpachevo and the Ongal houses. They are 4 houses located in spacious yards. We stayed at the old school or Ongal East. Our “Classroom” was huge, with a French fireplace and enough space to waltz inside.

In summer, you can enjoy the pool, and all year round you can try horseback riding, pottery, or pamper yourself with a massage. The atmosphere helps for complete relaxation, and the meals from local produce are great!
