Hotel review: Spa Hotel Belchin Garden

We were finally got the chance to stay at Spa Hotel Belchin Garden after visiting the outdoor pool and garden many times during summertime. We wanted to do a spa day somewhere near Sofia, staying for a night with some fresh air. And so we chose the outskirts of the village of Belchin.

Accommodation in Spa Hotel Belchin Garden

We booked a double room with a balcony. The hotel also offers suites with balconies for 2 adults and up to 2 children. Our room was spacious, we were greeted with a welcome card, and the view from the balcony was simply amazing. We could sit at the terrace table watching the mountain and the garden for hours, and in the afternoon, the mild autumn sun was shining.

The SPA center

But we had come for the spa, so we hurried to the spa center. We had missed the fact that there were spa towels in the room, and a receptionist gave us an order to pick them up from the room. And that was the only attitude we didn’t like during our stay. All the other employees were very polite and smiling. The indoor pool was not too warm, with enough space for everyone, and the sun rays passed through the tall windows and added magic. Out of the two outdoor pools, only the children’s pool was open and warm enough for a quick splash. We spent a lot of time outside walking around the pools and garden. Inside the spa center, we tried the sauna, steam bath, Roman bath, and relaxation room with a large salt diffuser. We had a great relaxing time!

The restaurant

The restaurant of the hotel made a great impression on us. The menu was varied and there were enough options for our diets, as well as a large wine list. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere – cozy and muted. Strict anti-epidemic measures were observed for both dinner and breakfast (which was a varied buffet). After breakfast, we left as new, full of energy, and in less than an hour, we were in Sofia to start the workweek.

Things to do in the area

If you stay in the hotel for a little longer, there are many interesting things and places in the area. The main attraction of Belchin is the fortress called Tsari Mali Grad. The fortress was opened as a tourist site in 2013, much of it has been recently restored. We recommend that you take one of the paths up from the village of Belchin or take the funicular. More information here.

From the hotel, they can organize excursions to the Seven Rila Lakes, as well as a panoramic flight over the Iskar Dam or horseback riding in the area. Transfers to the nearby ski resort of Borovets and the Rila Monastery are also available.

After finally staying at the Belchin Garden Spa Hotel, we believe that the hotel and spa have everything we need for a good rest with care for our well-being. We recommend the hotel and its spa especially during the colder months when we can enjoy more solitude and tranquility.
