Velingrad SPA – Hotel Arte SPA & Park

Velingrad holds the title of the SPA capital of the Balkans. Bulgarians and foreigners like to stay in town and take advantage of its mineral waters. We have been there several times, staying in different guest houses and hotels, but now we will share with you about our stay at a 5-star hotel, Hotel Arte SPA & Park.

One of the biggest surprises during a press trip with the municipality of Velingrad was our accommodation at the Arte SPA&Park hotel. The last time we went to a five-star spa hotel was in Bansko, so the expectations were high. Let’s see how the accommodation, the spa experience, the activities in the area, and so on went.

Accommodation

Approaching the hotel reveals a view of green meadows (white in winter) with wildflowers and herbs and a nice hotel in a pine forest. When you enter the lobby of the hotel, you’re immediately impressed by the interesting interior design and the friendly staff.

The hotel has standard and deluxe rooms, suites, even an apartment with a sauna. The standard rooms in which we were accommodated were spacious and with some hotel-specific design touches.

Accommodation in the hotel usually includes breakfast and dinner in the buffet restaurant. We liked the food very much, and only the fact that they offer rakia with the name Bistra speaks of quality and prestige. When the weather is nice, it is lovely to sit in the open-air area of the restaurant. In summer there is also an entertainment program for guests of the hotel.

The SPA center

Let’s get to the point and tell you a little about the reason for the visit – the spa experiences. Arte SPA&Park hotel has a large outdoor pool with sun loungers by the pine trees, an indoor pool connected to a small outdoor pool, a hot mineral water bath, and a hot tub.

The thermal area continues with a salt room, herbal sauna, Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, aroma steam bath, round indoor pool, and adventure showers. There is also a gym. Let’s not forget my favorite relaxation area, where you can easily spend a few hours with a book in hand.

We are very happy with the spa experience, although we had a small misfortune – at one point the water supply was stopped. In summer in Velingrad, such things can happen (different neighborhoods are supplied by 3 water sources). So, the hotel staff tried to keep the hygiene at a high level, despite the lack of water, but still, spa experiences can be compromised in such situations. Another example of how we should value everything and not take it for granted.

Things to do in the area

If we want to take a break from the spa and explore the city and the region, there are many options for this. We can take bikes from the hotel and cycle around, we can walk along the alley to the center of Velingrad.

We highly recommend tours and walks in the areas of Yundola, Belmeken, Pashovi skali, the Carpet Workshop in the village of Kostandovo, and if you want something really unusual – catch the narrow-gauge train! In conclusion, we liked the experience in the hotel and the SPA center, the combination with the beautiful nature and the mineral waters of Velingrad was magical, and the value for money ratio was good.
