Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, the powdery snow and well-groomed slopes make for an exhilarating skiing or snowboarding experience. And having so much natural snow was greatly appreciated by us!

2. Sledding

For a family-friendly activity, indulge in some good old-fashioned sledding. Grab a sled and race down the gentle slopes, creating cherished memories with friends and family. Sleds of all sorts are available for rent in the resort.

3. Paragliding

For the adventurous souls, take your winter escapade to new heights by experiencing Gudauri from the sky. Paragliding over the snow-covered landscapes provides a unique and awe-inspiring perspective of the region. Bistra chose the most sunny day to fly over Gudauri, and the views and the whole experience were amazing! On average, the flight takes 5 to 10 minutes and landing is very soft and gentle, but you’ll have to run a bit for a smooth take-off.

Zoom through the snowy terrain on a snowmobile, feeling the crisp winter air as you explore the pristine landscapes surrounding Gudauri. It’s an exhilarating adventure that adds a touch of thrill to your winter holiday. We followed the guide on the snowmobiling route up the mountains, and the views, close to sunset, were amazing. There were some adrenaline moments, too.

5. Heliskiing

For the ultimate thrill-seekers, heliskiing offers an unparalleled experience. Soar above the majestic mountains in a helicopter before descending untouched slopes, ensuring an adrenaline-pumping adventure. We would occasionally see a helicopter, or ski tracks in the higher inaccessible parts of the mountain, imagining what a great adventure that is!

6. Hiking and walking

Gudauri isn’t just about extreme sports. Lace up your boots and explore the serene winter wonderland by embarking on a hike or leisurely walk. The untouched beauty of the snow-covered landscapes is best experienced on foot. You can use the lift to reach the higher areas like Kobi, from where you get the most epic views of the surrounding mountains.

7. Indulge in Georgian cuisine

After a day filled with adventure and winter cold, savor the flavors of Georgian cuisine. Warm up with hearty dishes like khachapuri (cheese-filled bread) and khinkali (dumplings), providing a delicious taste of local culture. Pretty much all the restaurants in Gudauri serve traditional dishes, some come with a specific touch. The tasty meals can be complemented by a glass of Georgian wine.

Experience the vibrant nightlife of Gudauri by visiting live music restaurants which are several in New Gudauri. Unwind with good food, live performances of Georgian and international music, and the company of fellow travelers, creating a lively and memorable evening.

9. Spa retreats

Relax and rejuvenate in one of Gudauri’s spa retreats. After a day of outdoor activities, pamper yourself with a soothing spa treatment, melting away the strains of winter adventures. We skipped that part as we were way too busy with everything else, but there were some hotels and spa centers that could have been worth the price.

10. Party scene

Gudauri is not just a daytime destination; the nights come alive with lively parties. Join fellow travelers in the vibrant nightlife, creating lasting memories under the starlit winter sky. Join the apres-ski parties in the open air, or dress up and go to a bar later in the evening – you won’t be bored in Gudauri in winter if you’re into nightlife.

Getting to Gudauri

There are several ways to get to Gudauri from Tbilisi: by shared transport (minibusses departing from Tbilisi Didube when they get full), a car arranged by your accommodation (what we did), and a taxi. The journey takes 2 to 3 hours (unless there’s a traffic jam or incidents on the mountain road). You can also rent a car but we decided not to risk it with the unpredictable weather and amounts of snow and ice on the road.

Where to stay in Gudauri?

There are a variety of hotels and apartments to rent in Gudauri and New Gudauri (close to the ski area). We chose an apartment very close to the lift, and that was a great decision because we only had to walk less than 200 meters to the lift, to the supermarket, to the ski rentals, and to the restaurant – everything was up to 5 minutes away.
