Italy – Bergamo

Sometimes the most obvious choice is also the best one!

Let’s take, for example, Bergamo. We have neglected it two times when we were in Italy before. We thought that Milan is way more interesting to explore or just that in Bergamo there is nothing to see other than the airport. We couldn’t have been more wrong!

Take a peek for yourself:

Bergamo is а place where you can spend a whole day just enjoying the food, the interesting architecture and art and the friendly locals.

Interesting fact: there is public transportation to the airport. Even in the middle of the night!

Some useful advice: Be careful not to get crushed at the station by the thousands of students who are going home by train.

Goodbye, Bergamo, see you at our next connecting flight!

What to do in Bergamo for half a day?

Bergamo is such a charming town – no tourist crowds, ages of history, romantic views and dreamy aromas. You can explore it on foot!

Use this video as a half day or a full day guide to Bergamo.

Why choose Bergamo?

We love the town because of its authentic feel because it’s so easy to navigate through it because the views are just amazing. As well as the feeling of walking the cobblestone streets, visiting churches and museums that sparkle your interest, pretending to live in old-time Italy.

Bergamo is the perfect day trip from Milan, and it’s also the perfect trip from Bergamo airport if you have a few free hours between flights. One other thing to mention – staying in Bergamo could be much less cheap than staying in Milan. Accommodation rates in Milan could be cruel, and both cities are situated a short one-hour and about 5 euro distance between each other.
